Congratulations to Dennis Carter who was selected as the new Principal of Acacia Magnet School for Enriched Learning for the 2023-2024 school year. Mr. Carter's new role as Principal of Acacia Magnet School for Enriched Learning will be brought before the Board of Education for approval at the Wednesday, August 16, 2023 Board of Education meeting.
Mr. Carter most recently served as the Dean of Students at Redwood Middle School, and prior to that was a Special Education teacher at Sycamore Canyon School. As a Dean, he provided weekly support to Acacia students and staff. This experience developed his familiarity and passion for the school community’s success.
“I am looking forward to being a part of the Acacia community as we continue to build upon the student-centered environment where learning is fun, and students feel safe taking risks in their pursuit of knowledge,” said Mr. Carter.
Acacia Magnet School for Enriched Learning serves TK-5 scholars, and follows a Schoolwide Enrichment Model (SEM) that focuses on the strengths, talents, passions and interests of the individual student. The school’s SEM is based on best practices in gifted education and aims to challenge and enrich every child’s education by facilitating both academic and affective learning opportunities to build a foundation for critical thinking, achievement, innovation and success.
“Mr. Carter is a strong educational leader who is dedicated to the success of all students,” said Dr. Dena Sellers, Director of Elementary Education. “His commitment to creating and fostering a school culture of support and inclusive practices makes him a great fit for leading the Acacia campus.”
Mr. Carter earned a Master of Science Educational Administration from National University, and a Master of Science Special Education from National University. He is currently working towards his Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership from California State University, Fresno.
