CONEJO VALLEY UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD MEETINGS
Order Of Business
Meetings of the CVUSD Board of Education are held in the Board Room inside Conejo Valley High School, located at 1402 East Janss Road, Thousand Oaks, California 91362. Regular meetings occur on the first and third Wednesday of each month, with closed session beginning at approximately 5:00 p.m. and open session beginning at approximately 6:00 p.m. The Board is typically dark in July, with only one regular meeting held in August, at the Board's discretion. Special meetings are convened as needed.
Posting Of AgendaAn official copy of the agenda is posted at the District office, located at 1400 East Janss Road, Thousand Oaks, California 91362 and online at this website. Agendas are posted 72 hours before a regularly-scheduled meeting and 24 hours before a special meeting. Agendas and attachments are also posted online at www.conejousd.org and are available in hard copy at each meeting.
Agenda Schedule Is Based On Best EstimatesThe agenda is prepared with best estimates of when an item will be called, and the length of time needed for each agenda item. The Board may call agenda items at an earlier or later time than estimated, or consider and act upon agenda items in a different order. Therefore, all persons who are interested in any item on the agenda are advised to be present throughout the entire meeting to ensure that they are present when the item is called. Please be further advised that the Board may occasionally need to postpone agenda items to a future meeting.
Language InterpretersAny individual who requires a language interpreter in order to participate in a Board meeting should notify the Superintendent’s Office at 1400 East Janss Road, Thousand Oaks, California 91362; 805-497-9511, Extension 1101; or sfehlman@conejousd.org. Please request an interpreter at least 48 hours prior to the meeting in order to provide district staff sufficient time to make reasonable arrangements for an interpreter. Oral Public CommentsThe Board welcomes public comments. Members of the public may speak on an agenda item or during the Public Comments portion of the Board meeting on an item that is not listed on the agenda through the following options:
-In person. If you would like to speak on an agenda item in person, please complete a speaker card (blue) and hand it to the recording secretary prior to the start of that agenda item. If you would like to make comments about items not on the agenda, a speaker card should be completed and turned in prior to the Public Comments section of the agenda. The information on the speaker cards will assist the Board President in conducting the meeting and will become public record. If you wish to register your concern on a topic but not speak, please fill out a public written statement form (yellow) and hand it to the recording secretary. Board members will be provided with these statements after the Board meeting.When participating in person, please remember that you are participating in an official meeting of the District's Governing Board. Please present your comments in a factual, respectful, and dignified manner that models how we expect our children to participate in the democratic process. Know that your comments may be heard by students who are present in this room or students who may watch the broadcast of this meeting.
Written Public Comments
You may also participate in the meeting by submitting your written comment in lieu of providing a public comment via email to sfehlman@conejousd.org (please indicate the agenda number in the subject line). To give the District adequate time to provide your comments to the Board of Education, please submit your comments prior to 3:00 p.m. on the day of the meeting. Board members will review these written comments prior to the Board meeting.In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), if you need special assistance to participate in the Board of Education meeting, please contact the District at (805) 497-9511, extension 1101, within 48 hours of the meeting.
Please be advised that communications directed to the Board of Education are public records and are subject to disclosure pursuant to the California Public Records Act and Brown Act unless exempt from disclosure under the applicable law. Communications will NOT be edited for redactions; will be printed/posted as submitted.
Pursuant to the Brown Act, the Board cannot enter into a formal discussion nor can a decision be made in regard to public comments. The Board may provide a reference to staff or other resources of information, request staff to report back at a subsequent meeting, or direct staff to place an item on a future agenda.
PLEASE NOTE: Public comments will be limited to three minutes. On those occasions where there is an unusually large number of requests to speak, the President of the Board may make the decision to decrease the time for individual speakers and/or the total time.
Local ChannelsDuring the school year, Board Meetings are televised on Spectrum Educational Channel 20 (Verizon Fios Channel 32 and Charter Cable Channel 59) every Wednesday and Friday at 6:00 p.m., and Saturdays at noon. This schedule will continue for two weeks or until the next meeting is televised.

The current schedule is the first and third Wednesday of each month (with the exception of the dates included above with an *). Meetings begin with Closed Session at 5:00 p.m.; Open Session at 6:00 p.m.Board meeting dates for the remainder of the 2024-2025 school year (February through June 2025) will be posted after the Board of Education approves the anticipated dates at their Regular Board Meeting on December 18, 2024.
