Congratulations to Liam, Thousand Oaks Scholar, Accepted to the Youth Leadership Forum

Congratulations to Thousand Oaks High School 11th grade student Liam who has been accepted to the California Youth Leadership Forum (YLF) for Students with Disabilities.

This six-day conference hosted by the California Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) gives students the opportunity to learn advocacy and leadership skills from alumni and professionals with disabilities. Students will create a “Personal & Career Leadership Plan” to help reach their future education, independent living, and career goals.

He will also have the opportunity to interact with state and national leaders with disabilities, which may include celebrities, politicians, entertainers, and other adult role models with disabilities.

The YLF is scheduled to be held virtually and in person. The first session will be held virtually using Zoom from July 13 – July 15. The second session will be held in-person at California State University, Sacramento (CSUS) from July 17 – July 19. The program will be at no cost to students who are selected.

On the Thousand Oaks High School campus, Liam is active in the Theater Department and the school’s Peer Mentoring Program.
