Congratulations to the Westlake High School Studio Jazz Ensemble I for being selected to perform at the 76th annual Midwest Clinic - THE source for instrumental music education since 1946. Annually held in Chicago since its inception in 1946, The Midwest Clinic is the world’s largest instrumental music education conference.
This will be the third time that the Westlake High School Studio Jazz Ensemble I performs at the Midwest Clinic - making them the only ensemble, of any level, of any kind from California to perform three times in the history of the Clinic. Notably, once you perform in the Clinic, you are not permitted to audition again for five years. The WHS Studio Jazz Ensemble I previously performed at the Midwest Clinic in 2012, 2017, and will perform at the 2022 Midwest Clinic on Wednesday, December 21st.

The Midwest Clinic is now attended annually by an international audience of more than 17,000 music educators, students, and professionals; the conference began 70 years ago as a way to introduce directors to new repertoire for their ensembles.
The Midwest Clinic exists for educational purposes exclusively; to raise the standards of music education; to develop new teaching techniques; to disseminate to school music teachers, directors and supervisors and others interested in music education, information to assist in their professional work; to examine, analyze and appraise literature dealing with music; to hold clinics, lectures and demonstrations for the betterment of music education; and in general to assist teachers and others interested in music education in better pursuing their profession.
