Congratulations Rachel Hubbard Braddell of EARThS Magnet, CVUSD’s December 2022 Teacher of the Month!

Rachel Hubbard Braddell establishes a loving and safe learning environment for all students. She encourages a positive self-concept in her students by finding and highlighting each child’s unique strengths, making each one feel special. An educator in the CVUSD for more than a decade, Ms. Braddell currently teaches 3rd grade at EARThS Magnet School. The Conejo Valley Unified School District and the Greater Conejo Chamber of Commerce are honored to recognize her as the CVUSD December 2022 Teacher of the Month!

Ms. Braddell teaches her students to have a growth mindset by providing them confidence in their abilities so they know they can do “hard things,” and if they do not understand something “yet,” they will understand it shortly. She celebrates a positive and collaborative classroom by using community circles for students to share positive “shoutouts” to each other.

She reviews and revises lesson plans to ensure they are engaging, challenging, and appropriate for all learners.

She also goes above and beyond to include and connect families to their student’s learning. She communicates on a weekly basis with parents/guardians to share what was studied the previous week, what is on the agenda for the upcoming week, and, importantly, to share student successes.  She consistently seeks new ways to include families in the learning process.

Ms. Braddell is also an invaluable asset to the EARThS team and her colleagues. She discusses strategies, resources and expectations to implement with colleagues allowing students to learn and perform at their very best. She serves as a mentor and professional resource for colleagues often sharing curriculum and assisting with lesson plans.

She is a lifetime learner who keeps current with developments in education and makes informed suggestions like those which allowed EARThS to improve their writing program. Ms. Braddell shares her love of learning with students, families and colleagues - making EARThS a positive place to learn and grow!

On Tuesday, November 29th, the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Conejo Valley Unified School District surprised Ms. Braddell with the December 2022 Teacher of the Month recognition during an EARThS staff meeting. Ms. Braddell received a commemorative plaque honoring her special recognition. Congratulations Ms Braddell and thank you for the invaluable contributions and positive impact you make for our EARThS scholars!
