Congratulations Meghann O’Weger: New Principal of Maple Elementary School!

Meghann O'WegerCongratulations to Meghann O’Weger who was approved at the Wednesday, March 5, 2025 Board of Education meeting as the new principal for Maple Elementary School effective July 1, 2025.

Throughout her career, Mrs. O’Weger has been dedicated to fostering inclusive and supportive learning environments for all students. She currently serves as the Assistant Principal of Redwood Middle where she plays an integral part in developing curricular and instructional programs. Prior to that, Mrs. O’Weger  was the Dean at Redwood where she oversaw Student Attendance and Activities.

Mrs. O’Weger has more than 12 years of educational experience in a variety of roles and settings, through which she has acquired a multitude of unique skill sets to support all students' success. These roles in the CVUSD include being a Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) of Inclusion for Be Me Preschool, a Special Education English teacher at Newbury Park High School, and a teacher at Acacia Magnet School and Banyan Elementary School.

“We are so proud to welcome Mrs. O’Weger to her new role as Principal of Maple Elementary School,” said Dr. Dena Sellers, Director of Elementary Education. “Her exceptional leadership skills and ability to cultivate caring communities where every student feels supported in thriving both academically and socio-emotionally, makes her the ideal next leader of Maple Elementary School.”

Prior to joining the CVUSD, Mrs. O’Weger taught at a school specializing in serving students with dyslexia. She also spent time as a math intervention teacher and a paraprofessional working with students with autism.

Mrs. O’Weger earned a Master of  Public Administration from Bowie State University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Maryland University College. She has a Mild/Moderate Education Specialist Credential from California State University Monterey Bay and Mild/Moderate Disabilities Credential with an Autism Spectrum Disorders added authorization and an Administrative Services Credential. To receive her Administrative Services Credential clear credential, Mrs. O’Weger is working with the Las Virgenes Admin Induction program.

Current Maple Elementary School Principal, Patty Lewis is retiring at the end of the 2024-2025 school year after nine years of dedicated service. Mrs. O’Weger will officially begin her new role as the Principal of Maple on July 1, 2025.
