Congratulations Conejo Valley High School, a 2025 Model Continuation High School!
Conejo Valley High School (CVHS) is one of 74 schools throughout the state to be newly designated the recognition of Model Continuation High School (MCHS) for 2025. The announcement was made on February 19, 2025 from California State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond.
Schools achieve the Model Continuation High School recognition for their innovative approach to instruction and for helping students who have faced many challenges get back on the pathway to learning, recover credits and earn their high school diploma.
More than that, CVHS also provides a caring community with support from dedicated teachers, staff and administrators to enhance student learning and build strong school connections.
Conejo Valley High School last received the Model Continuation High School distinction in 2022. Model Continuation High Schools maintain their designation for three years.
Currently, there are 429 continuation high schools who serve close to 49,000 students throughout the state. MCHSs excel and provide exceptional opportunities for their students to pursue academic and social success.
The Model Continuation High Schools were selected based on a comprehensive application process that included submission of detailed narrative statements describing specific aspects of school operations and how these were exemplary and the use of assessment tools and data to support continuous improvement. The process included a peer review panel and on-site visit.
The Model Continuation High School Recognition Program is a collaborative partnership between the California Department of Education (CDE) and the California Continuation Education Association Plus (CCEA Plus). Schools operate their own exemplary programs, but Model Continuation High School–recognized educators commit to supporting and mentoring their peers in other local educational agencies.
Conejo Valley High School and all 74 schools selected as Model Continuation High Schools will be recognized at the CCEA Plus 2025 State Conference in San Diego in April.
Way to go, Dragons!
