CVUSD Celebrates Lunar New Year
January 29, 2025, will usher in the Lunar New Year for 2025 - the Year of the Snake.
The Lunar New Year is of special significance and represents a major celebration for Chinese and many other Asian people throughout the world, including families with roots in countries that include China, Vietnam, South Korea, and Singapore.
The Lunar New Year represents a number of important traditional, social, and cultural events and values, many of which have become customary to observe in the United States.
Lunar New Year began in China more than 4,000 years ago and is widely celebrated with community activities and cultural performances.
CVUSD is committed to honoring and valuing the traditions and cultural significance of the Lunar New Year and the contributions and accomplishments of the Asian and Pacific Islander communities.
Resolution #24/25-22 In Support of Lunar New Year 2025 was approved by the Board of Education at their Wednesday, January 15, 2025 meeting. The CVUSD recognizes the cultural and historical significance of Lunar New Year and encourages staff, students and community members to learn about the history of Lunar New Year and celebrate with purposeful activities.
