Jessica Garcia possesses all the qualities of a favorite teacher whom students remember for a lifetime - engaging, supportive, understanding, accommodating and fun. Ms. Garcia has served as an English teacher at Los Cerritos Middle School since 2017, and as the school’s English Department Chair for the last four years. The Conejo Valley Unified School District and the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce are proud to recognize her as our December 2024 Teacher of the Month!
Ms. Garcia cultivates a caring and welcoming learning environment, which supports students' growth as scholars. She also provides a safe place for students where they learn and grow as students, as well as receiving the social emotional support that allows them to feel accepted and heard. Ms. Garcia is an expert at building strong relationships, including establishing a level of rapport with students that fosters mutual respect and trust.
She is also a team player for her peers at Los Cerritos Middle School. Ms. Garcia works closely with colleagues, and acts as a motivator to embrace innovative, new teaching strategies. She was chosen by her peers to participate as a teacher leader in the California Principals’ Support (CAPS) Network to bring ideas and concepts to foster teacher and student learning to the staff at Los Cerritos Middle.
Whether standing in front of a classroom full of students or in front of the entire teaching staff, Ms. Garcia is valued, respected and is a “gem” who continues to shine and enhance Los Cerritos Middle School!
At the Wednesday, December 11, 2024 Los Cerritos staff meeting, Ms. Garcia was surprised with the Teacher of the Month recognition. She was presented with a commemorative plaque from the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce to honor her special recognition, along with a $300 teacher grant from the Conejo Schools Foundation, and congratulatory wishes from CVUSD’s leadership team, and gifts from members of the Chamber’s Education Committee.
