School Choice - Families Living Inside of District
-
All CVUSD schools are considered Schools of Choice. As long as a school is not filled to its capacity with existing students and incoming neighborhood students, students living outside the neighborhood boundaries of a school may apply to enroll in that school via the School Choice Application process. Schools may continue to accept students until they are filled to capacity. If there are more applications than there are available spots for interested students, the District will conduct a random lottery.

EARThS - Lottery & Boundary Priorities
In an effort to facilitate increased access to EARThS Magnet School for students who live “proximate” (defined as the Cameo, Conejo Creek and Michael Manor tracts in Newbury Park) to the campus, and/or “in-boundary” (defined as the former Manzanita Boundary) the following three-tiered placement system will be utilized for intradistrict placement for EARThS Magnet School. For detailed information on this, please go to this street index and find “Earths Proximate and In-Boundary Addresses”
Tier 1 - Preschool Program - 10% of EARThS kindergarten spaces shall be set-aside for applicants that are current enrollees of the CVUSD Preschool Program located on the EARThS campus. Following, sibling and employee priority placements will be completed. Further, all on-time kindergarten applicants who reside “proximate” to the EARThS campus will be placed.
Tier 2 – all on-time kindergarten “in-boundary” applicants, based on the previous Manzanita school boundary, will be considered for placement through the Tier 2 lottery process with 15% of the available/remaining kindergarten spaces being allocated. Further, all grades 1 – 5 applicants who reside “proximate” to the EARThS campus will be given priority for placement based on capacity by grade level and the number of applications that qualify under this second tier lottery process.
Tier 3 – all remaining on-time in-boundary and in-district applicants for EARThS Magnet School will be considered for placement through the Tier 3 lottery process with the remaining K-5 spaces being allocated.

What if I want to return to my school of residence after attending another school via school of choice?
If you are approved for and attend a school of your choosing, that school then becomes your school of residence. If you later choose to return to your school of residence, based on your address, you would need to complete the school choice process again and would be processed as Priority 1.
-
What happens if I am approved for my first choice?
If you are approved for and accept your first choice, your name will be withdrawn for your second choice. If you are approved for and accept your second choice, you will remain on the waitlist for your first choice.
