NEW DATE: The Priority Deadline for the 2024-2025 School Choice Application is Extended to Wednesday, February 7th at 11:59pm

In the Conejo Valley Unified School District we have a right fit for every student. For families who would like to enroll their student in a CVUSD school other than their assigned neighborhood school, this may be completed via the School Choice Application process.

When is the School Choice Application Available?
On Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at 8am, the School Choice Application for the 2024-2025 school year will be available for families to complete ONLINE HERE. (Please note: Families without access to a device at home to complete the form online, may come to the District's Educational Center located at 1400 E. Janss Road, Thousand Oaks to utilize a District computer to complete the form.)

School Choice Applications must be submitted by the new extended deadline of Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at 11:59 pm in order to be considered “on time” and to be included in the lottery process.

Please note, applications will still be accepted after February 7th. However, applications received after February 7th will be processed on a case by case basis. At schools where there is a wait list, applications submitted after February 7th will be placed on the wait list in the order received and subsequent to all on-time applications.

  • A timeline of important dates for families of secondary students submitting a School Choice Application is available here:  English - Spanish

When a School Choice Application is approved, the student is approved to attend the requested school through that school’s highest grade level.  You do not have to reapply each year.

Important Transitional Kindergarten (TK) Procedures and Birthdates for 2024-2025:
A School Choice Application is no longer required for families who would like to enroll their student in TK at their assigned neighborhood school. All TK students will register at their neighborhood school, the same as enrollment for Kindergarten, beginning on Monday, January 29, 2024.

TK birth dates have changed for the 2024-2025 school year:

  • Students born between 9/2/2019 and 6/2/20 are eligible for TK only (per EDC 48000 (c) (1) (F)).

  • A child who will have their fifth birthday between July 1, 2024 and September 1, 2024 may be admitted to a transitional kindergarten program or a kindergarten program based on the choosing of the parent/guardian.

Neighborhood School Enrollment for New CVUSD Students Begins Monday, January 29, 2024
Importantly, families do NOT need to submit a School Choice Application if your student is planning to attend their assigned neighborhood school, or if your student was previously approved to attend their current school through school choice.

The majority of CVUSD’s students attend their neighborhood school via the Neighborhood School Enrollment process. CVUSD kindergarten enrollment packets will be available online and at neighborhood schools beginning Monday, January 29, 2024. A families’ neighborhood school is assigned based on their address of residency. To determine the assigned neighborhood school, please use the District’s “Street Index” and “School Locator” map.

When is the Interdistrict Transfer Form Available?
If a family resides outside of CVUSD’s boundaries, but would like to attend a CVUSD school, an Interdistrict Transfer Form must be completed. Families must complete an Interdistrict Transfer Form and submit it to their assigned, “home” school district. Steps on the Interdistrict Transfer process can be found here.
