Position on use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

  • At CVUSD, our goal is to leverage Generative AI to enhance learning and instruction. As we navigate this ever-changing landscape in educational technology, CVUSD is dedicated to integrating technology responsibly. We prioritize the ethical use of Generative AI, including protecting student privacy, ensuring data security, and fostering digital citizenship. CVUSD aims to create a positive and productive learning environment that leverages the benefits of AI by establishing guidelines and best practices.

Generative AI tools can be used to support learning in a variety of ways, including:

    • Personalized instruction: AI can adapt to each student's individual needs and pace of learning allowing teachers to make lessons more relevant to their students’ interests and accommodate individual needs.
    • Content creation: AI can create practice problems that increase in difficulty as a student progresses. AI tools can generate images, videos, and music, allowing students to express their ideas in multimedia formats.
    • Language translation: AI translation enables teachers to communicate effectively with parents and guardians who speak languages other than English. This includes translating emails, newsletters, and other important documents. AI can translate educational materials, such as worksheets, assignments, and online resources, into students' native languages.

    CVUSD Policy on AI

While generative AI can be beneficial, it's important to balance its use with traditional learning methods. AI will be used as a tool to enhance learning; it's important to use these tools in a way that compliments, rather than replaces, human interaction.
