California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS)

  • The California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS) is a state-wide survey sponsored by CDE that is administered by 1,037 California school districts. CHKS is not a CVUSD designed survey. CVUSD utilizes this information to develop important programs that address the health, safety, and well being of our students. CHKS has been administered biennially in CVUSD since 1999.

Survey completers' identities remain anonymous and the survey is designed so that no one can be identified from the data.  Student participation in the survey is voluntary. As required by California law, students in grade 6 require parent/guardian opt-in or active consent; while students in grades 7, 9, and 11 require parent/guardian opt-out, or passive consent. More information can be found at the California Department of Education.
