Multilingual Parent Leaders

  • Our Multilingual Parent Leaders are graduates of the Project 2INSPIRE parent engagement program. They have completed both the Level 2 Mastery and Level 3 Expert level and are now trained to lead the Level 1 Awareness level to other parents. Project 2INSPIRE consists of the completion of 2 years of research-based course work focused on learning about the complexities of the American School System.

A collaborative approach is employed to build parental capacity that involves a collaboration between and among the parent participants. The program provides parents, teachers, community liaisons, and principals the tools they need to work together as partners to improve schools and support the education of their children.

I was born and raised in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico. I moved to the U.S. in April 2011. I am the mother of 3 girls who are currently in primary school in the Conejo district. I have always liked being very involved in the education of my daughters and I have done it since they started attending school. Participating in the Project 2Inspire Program helped me become more actively involved in my daughters' school and in the various committees of the School District. I want to share this information with parents who are unfamiliar with the programs and educational system in this country.

I have been a part of Conejo Elementary's PFA for 4 years. I attend SSC from both schools. I would like to help more parents learn about education in this country because knowledge gives us power as well as confidence in how to help our children. This also makes us feel good about ourselves. Being involved in our children's schools brings us closer to teachers, principals, and school staff.

Mother of a third grader (2020-2021) at Westlake Hills Elementary. Honored to have received the opportunity to belong to Project 2Inspire and acquire new information relevant to the education of our children. I believe in the value of equity in schools to ensure that the needs of all children are valued equally, I consider that the best tool of a parent is to be informed in order to ensure the academic, social, and emotional well-being of our children. It is important to see ourselves represented in our school district. The best way to do that is to get involved in any way possible.

I was born and raised in Muna, Yucatán, Mexico. I came to the U.S.A. in 2002. I am a mother of 4 and they attend Newbury Park High School, Sequoia Middle School and Walnut Elementary. At first, not knowing English was a barrier to helping my daughter in school, but thanks to workshops that the school provided for parents, that changed. In 2019, I was able to participate in Project 2inspire and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life since I managed to have a better perception of the United States education system. Now I want to help parents so that they can support their children as well.
