Viking News is an opportunity for grade 7 and 8 students to learn hands-on digital media production skills. Students will develop strong digital literacy and citizenship skills while learning how to become innovative digital producers. Students will learn professional sound and lighting equipment, green screens, GoPro and DSLR video cameras and iMovie editing equipment. This knowledge will connect to real world knowledge and will build an impressive portfolio that will connect them to opportunities in high school and beyond. Viking News creates, edits and publishes YouTube Viking News segments for Redwood Middle School.  This course will also connect to entrepreneurial mindsets and skill by building students knowledge on prototyping, design, marketing and pitching with an emphasis on creativity, innovation, collaboration and advanced technical skills.
