This May CVUSD Celebrates Jewish American Heritage Month

The Conejo Valley Unified School District celebrates May as Jewish American Heritage Month, a time that recognizes and appreciates the achievements and contributions of Jewish Americans throughout history.

At the Wednesday, April 17, 2024 Board of Education meeting, Resolution #23/24-29: In Support of Jewish American Heritage Month was approved.

Jewish Americans have made significant contributions to society and culture, in the fields of science, medicine, athletics, entertainment, business, civil rights, government, military service, and more.

In 1980, Former President Jimmy Carter adopted a proclamation that annually recognized Jewish American Heritage Week. Later in 2006, Former President George W. Bush adopted another proclamation that officially established May as Jewish American Heritage Month.

The month of May stands as a time of national celebration for Jewish people and culture. The CVUSD encourages staff, students, and community members to remember, honor, celebrate, and learn about Jewish Americans as well as their essential role in building our nation.
