Lunch Ordering Change

Dear Wildwood Families,

Beginning Monday, May 19th the Child Nutrition Services department will implement our "Give Students a Choice" program at Wildwood. Your student will no longer need to select their  entree in the morning when the teacher takes attendance.  Their teacher will only ask the students if they will be having lunch from the cafeteria. Our goal is to provide your child the opportunity to make their meal choice when they arrive in the cafeteria line instead of "pre-selecting”  in the morning. We have piloted this at a couple of schools already and have found the students enjoy this freedom and are able to select the entrée of their choice. Many thanks for your support of the Child Nutrition Services department.

Healthy regards,

Sandy

Private School Recommendations

At this time of year, we are once again starting to receive requests from private schools for letters of recommendation.  The Conejo Valley Unified School District adopted a change in policy in January 2003 at the elementary level regarding such letters.

Typically, private schools ask teachers and/or principals to complete lengthy letters of recommendations for potential students.  The additional paperwork can be very time consuming and often makes the teachers and/or principals apprehensive in making these decisions.

The district does not feel that it is appropriate for any teacher and/or principal to give subjective information regarding a student’s candidacy for private school.  This decision is a private one and should be made between the student, parents, and the school of choice.

Therefore, the procedure for private schools wanting student information is to ask the parents to have the school send copies of the student's cum directly to the private school.  This cum information is very thorough and can give information regarding the student's academic history.

Should you have any further questions, please contact Carol Boyan-Held, Director of Elementary Education for the Conejo Valley Unified School District.

District Wellness Policy

As per the new School Board Adopted CVUSD Wellness Policy Wildwood Elementary will no longer allow birthday treats to be brought in on or around the child's birthday.  Instead of treats parents are encouraged to bring in non edible items such as pencils, erasers, stickers, pencil sharpeners, or even a book dedicated to the classroom library. These items will be passed out during the school day as was done in the past. Thank you for following our new policy.
