WHE staff, teachers, PFA, and parent volunteers partner throughout the year to build and strengthen the Westlake Hills community. From larger events like the Back to School Bash, Trunk or Treat, and Wildcat Fun Day, to smaller activities like dinners at local restaurants, not only will your child be proud to call themselves a Wildcat, but you will too!

Meet Scratch
Our mascot's name is Scratch the Wildcat, and you’ll often see him showing up at school assemblies to get the students excited about being a Wildcat and sporting their school spirit wear!
-
School Assemblies and Song
School assemblies throughout the year bring all students together to celebrate the accomplishments of classmates, learn character-building lessons, and compete to see who has the most school spirit. Sometimes, students are treated to special guests and demonstrations! Assemblies end with all the children signing the School Song, which they memorize during their first year on campus. WHE families are always invited and encouraged to attend.

Running Club
Throughout the year, you’ll find WHE students running every Tuesday and Thursday mornings before school begins. Supported by the PFA, staff, teachers and parents, this club teaches students not only the joys of exercising, but also motivation, goal setting and self-discipline. Students cheer each other on as club members hit milestones towards their total mileage accumulated throughout the year.

Talent Show
In January, students have the opportunity to showcase their talent. Everything from singing, dancing, musical instruments, comedy, acrobatics, and more can be seen! Close to 30 Acts participate each year, with over 60 students involved. The school spirit and camaraderie help students overcome nervous jitters to put on a fabulous show for parents and the school community. We even have a special guest performance that all the students love to see!

School Wide Art Projects Celebrating Inclusive Schools Week
With support of our art instructor, students have participated in several school wide art projects. During the 2022-2023 school year, Unity in Our Community was the theme for Inclusive Schools week. With the help of staff and parent volunteers, we were able to create a permanent fixture of our belief and commitment to unity by using student and staff hands as the “leaves” of the Unity Tree. During the 2024-2025 school year Inclusive Schools Week, all students participated in the creation of an inclusion poster that hangs in the Multipurpose Room (MPR).

Senior Walk
Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat! In June, all high school seniors who completed 5th grade at WHE are invited back for our annual Senior Walk. Current classes line the hallways to hold signs and cheer on our alumni as they celebrate their success of graduating high school. Former teachers give hugs, students give high-fives, and alumni parents grab a tissue as they watch their high school seniors sing the WHE School Song one last time. This event is a great opportunity to reinforce with our elementary school students the importance of staying in school and obtaining a high school diploma.
