Do you like to work with your hands? Are you good at fixing things or learning how things are put together? Do you envision a career where you can build something out of nothing, complete home renovations and make improvements to existing structures? The courses in the Construction Technology Pathway will teach you how to accomplish all of this. From framing to electrical to plumbing, these courses will develop high-demand skills and put you on track to be hired in one of these career paths.

- Students will have the opportunity to earn their OSHA certificate
- Students learn the basics in 15 different trades, which will increase their opportunities for hiring in the future
- Students are introduced to industry standard techniques to be competitive in future job interviews
- Construction Technology Team that competes in building competitions to demonstrate construction skills, develop student leadership and teamwork
- Guest speakers share their experiences, provide advice and empower students to envision their future in these construction-related industries
- Each unit of study provides students a hands-on learning experience to reinforce the concepts in order to further the learning and skill development

This Pathway prepares students for a career in the residential and commercial construction industry, paired with safety training and knowledge of various trades and construction techniques.

About the Pathway teacher
Daniel teaches the Construction Technology Pathway as well as the Architectural Design Pathway at Thousand Oaks High School. When he’s not working, he likes to be outside, taking pictures, kayaking, hiking, bicycling, and traveling. He has visited every state in the U.S., many of the National Parks, and almost 30 countries. He enjoys reading about business concepts while keeping up to date with new construction techniques. When possible, he likes to spend time in his shop building fine furniture. He loves the smell of fresh sawdust and the fit of a perfect dovetail joint!
