The Ventura County Math Council Awards Outstanding CVUSD Math Educators

The Conejo Valley Unified School District is proud to share that the following CVUSD teachers have been announced as 2026 Outstanding Mathematics Educators Awardees by the Ventura County Math Council (VCMC):

• Kelsey Bartlett, CVUSD, Math Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) - Outstanding Mathematics Educator Supporting Mathematics Education: Ms. Bartlett  has led the districtwide implementation of the California Mathematics Framework, developed high-quality TK–Algebra 2 instructional resources, and provided extensive professional learning that builds teacher capacity and promotes equitable access to rigorous math. Her work strengthens instructional practices and elevates mathematics education across our district.
   
• Tish Pletcher, EARThS Magnet School, 2nd Grade - Outstanding Mathematics Educator in the Classroom: Ms. Pletcher is an exceptional teacher at EARThS Magnet School. She provides students opportunities for deep thinking and problem solving, and seeks out ways to build equitable access for her students. She is a leader amongst her colleagues, by providing professional learning as part of our Math Framework rollout this past November and continues to be a resource for other primary teachers.

These educators are two of the five 2026 awardees to receive county-wide recognition from the Ventura County Mathematics Council.

Individuals are nominated for this annual award through an online submission process. Awardees are dedicated to quality mathematics education. They are caring, sensitive, energetic, enthusiastic, and enjoy their job. They practice exemplary teaching techniques as outlined in the California Mathematics Framework and are supportive of mathematics education through any of the following: 

• Designs and delivers learning experiences for mathematics classes
• Involved in math conferences and workshops
• Assists in the development of professional growth opportunities for teachers
• Involved in ongoing curricular improvement in mathematics 
• Takes leadership in local, state or national mathematics organizations

The 2026 Outstanding Math Educators were honored at a special awards celebration and dinner on May 7th in Camarillo.

The VCMC is comprised of educators and others who have an interest in mathematics who disseminate new ideas, skills and teaching techniques to Ventura County educators, while promoting the beauty and importance of mathematics.
