Two Westlake High Scholars Selected for Competitive Amgen Biotechnology Internship

Congratulations to Westlake High School 10th grade students Smrithi Baradwaj and Amelia So for being selected for the highly competitive BOLT! (Biotechnology Opportunities for Leadership and Talent) Internship program through the AMGEN Biotech Experience.

The BOLT! Internship is a student-focused program for high schoolers and undergraduates designed to explore the diverse and dynamic fields within biotechnology. As part of the program, Smrithi and Amelia will actively support the behind-the-scenes operations of the Amgen Biotech Experience (ABE) while gaining up to 100 hours of comprehensive exposure to biotechnology.

Smrithi and Amelia’s selection for this prestigious opportunity speaks volumes about their academic excellence, leadership and passion for science. Through this internship opportunity they will gain hands-on experience working behind the scenes in industry lab settings, engaging in career development workshops, networking with professional scientists, and exploring future pathways in STEM and biotechnology fields.

As part of their application for this internship, both students were required to submit recommendations from a school counselor or teacher - a testament to their interests and excellence in the classroom translating to a real-world opportunity for further growth and professional experience.
