Mobile Devices Policy Update for the 2025-2026 School Year
The Conejo Valley Unified School District Board of Education recently approved an updated version of CVUSD Board Policy 5131.8 “Mobile Communication Devices,” which goes into effect this 2025-2026 school year.
For all CVUSD Students in Grades TK-8:
- Mobile communication devices shall be turned off and/or on silent mode and put away during instructional time.
- Students in grades Preschool through 8th grade shall not use cell phones, smart watches, pagers, or other mobile communication devices on campus during instructional and non-instructional time (e.g. recess, passing periods, nutrition, lunch).
For all CVUSD Students in Grades 9-12:
- Mobile communication devices shall be turned off and/or on silent mode and put away during instructional time.
- Students in Grades 9 through Post-Secondary may use cell phones, smart watches, pagers, or other mobile communication devices on campus during non-instructional time (e.g. passing periods, nutrition, lunch) as long as the device is utilized in accordance with law and any rules that individual school sites may impose.

Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) alerts have been issued from Southern California Edison (SCE) for our community, with the potential to impact power at our school campuses. All CVUSD school campuses will continue to be open for the day of regularly scheduled instruction when a school does not have power due to a PSPS initiated by SCE.

The CVUSD Parent Outreach Program invites all Spanish-speaking parents to participate in cost-free English classes on Wednesday evenings. Academic support for students in elementary school is offered/available while parents learn English. Register to attend now.
