It’s Official: CVUSD is Home to the First TK-12 International Baccalaureate (IB) Continuum in Ventura County
The Conejo Valley Unified School District is proud to announce that Sequoia Middle School (grades 6-8) and Newbury Park High School (grades 9-10) have officially achieved authorization for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP)!
This significant accomplishment marks the culmination of a rigorous, multi-year process of planning, implementation, evaluation, and dedication to meeting the high standards of the International Baccalaureate Organization. Through the commitment of our students, staff, administrators, and community, both schools have successfully demonstrated their readiness to deliver the IB Middle Years Programme.
With this achievement, Conejo Valley Unified School District becomes the first school district in Ventura County to offer a complete TK–12 IB continuum. Students can now experience an IB education journey beginning at Cypress Elementary School (TK–5), continuing through Sequoia Middle School (grades 6–8) and Newbury Park High School (grades 9–10) through the MYP, and culminating with the IB Diploma Programme at Newbury Park High School (grades 11–12).
The IB Middle Years Programme is designed to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who are prepared to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world. Through challenging academics, global perspectives, and meaningful real-world connections, the MYP empowers students to become lifelong learners and engaged citizens.
The IB is globally renowned worldwide for excellence, and the CVUSD is immensely proud to be home to three of the 6,200 IB authorized schools from more than 160 countries.
Congratulations to Sequoia Middle School and Newbury Park High School on this tremendous achievement! This is a true testament to the ongoing innovation and commitment of our school communities to providing rigorous, impactful education to our community of learners.

We are pleased to announce that Maryam Azizi has been selected as the District’s new Risk Manager. Ms. Azizi officially joined the CVUSD leadership team on July 1st. Ms. Azizi is a California attorney who brings a breadth of experience to her new role with the District.

During the summer months, work permits will be processed at the District office located on Janss Road. Additionally, transcript requests can be submitted online and will be overseen by District office staff. Complete details available here.
