CVUSD Celebrates Attendance Awareness Month this September
September 1, 2026, marks the start of Attendance Awareness Month! This is a time to focus on the importance of attending school daily.
Attendance Awareness Month is an annual event started in 2011 by the Attendance Works campaign, which aimed to raise awareness about chronic absenteeism. Studies show that students who keep a consistent attendance rate are more likely to succeed academically, which affirms the importance of parents and guardians ensuring that their children attend school regularly.
Please join the Conejo Valley Unified School District this September in raising awareness about the impact of attendance on student success. Students who have good attendance in September are most likely to thrive all year long!
The theme for Attendance Awareness Month this year is, “Your Presence Matters!” This initiative calls on schools, districts, and local communities to focus on the power of student and family engagement, build a welcoming school culture in the fall, and prevent chronic absenteeism.
Check out this video for more on how CVUSD is better together, when all students attend school daily:
At the Wednesday, August 12, 2026 Board of Education Meeting Resolution #26/27-02 in Support of Attendance Awareness Month was approved.

Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) alerts have been issued from Southern California Edison (SCE) for our community, with the potential to impact power at our school campuses. All CVUSD school campuses will continue to be open for the day of regularly scheduled instruction when a school does not have power due to a PSPS initiated by SCE.
