Congratulations to Westlake High Senior Oscar Ruiz: A 2025 QuestBridge National College Match Recipient!

Congratulations to Westlake High School 12th grade student Oscar Ruiz who has earned a full-ride scholarship to Bowdoin College through the prestigious QuestBridge National College Match Program!

Oscar will be heading to Bowdoin College which is a highly selective liberal arts college in Brunswick, Maine, known for its academic rigor, 7% acceptance rate, and mission centered on the Common Good.  Oscar plans to pursue a degree in Environmental Studies.

The QuestBridge Match program connects high-achieving students with top-tier colleges that offer full scholarships covering tuition, housing, meals, books, and more. Oscar’s match to Bowdoin highlights not only his incredible achievements but also the power of AVID’s college-readiness support and the opportunities available through QuestBridge.

As a four-year member of Westlake’s AVID program and the current AVID President, Oscar has shown exceptional determination, leadership, and commitment to academic excellence which are all qualities that embody the spirit of AVID and the values of our Warrior community.

This year, QuestBridge’s 55 college partners matched with 2,550 Finalists, who are recognized as Match Scholarship Recipients. These Match Scholarship Recipients represent all 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia, as well as the territories of American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, and Puerto Rico. Students earning the Finalist title have demonstrated that they are prepared to excel at the nation's top colleges and have positioned themselves to make a positive impact in their lives, families, and communities.

Congratulations, Oscar on this well-earned accomplishment!
