Congratulations to Sarah Mergian of Sycamore Canyon School: CVUSD’s April 2026 Teacher of the Month!

Congratulations to Sarah Mergian of Sycamore Canyon School: CVUSD’s April 2026 Teacher of the Month!

Sarah Mergian welcomes all students with enthusiasm, grace and kindness. A transitional kindergarten (TK) teacher at Sycamore Canyon School for five school years, and counting, Ms. Mergian is a strong advocate for inclusion in the classroom, and has been making a positive impact in the Coyotes’ community since her arrival. The Conejo Valley Unified School District and the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce are proud to honor Ms. Mergian as our April 2026 Teacher of the Month!

Ms. Mergian leads by example, fostering a culture of respect among students by greeting them around campus, including everyone in playground activities, and encouraging them to care for one another. She provides class lessons and activities that are so inspiring that students and staff alike are excited and want to replicate the activities.

Ms. Mergian is welcoming to all in her classroom. She finds ways to involve and engage with students in the special education preschool program so that students can participate in activities together, providing them with the opportunity to learn and grow from each other.

She works collaboratively with the special education preschool program teacher to communicate information about each child’s accomplishments within the inclusion class so that they can be shared with parents/guardians. She promotes inclusion for special education preschoolers and imparts this excitement with all who visit the Sycamore Canyon campus!

At the Tuesday, April 14th staff meeting at Sycamore Canyon School, Ms. Mergian was surprised with the April 2026 Teacher of the Month recognition. She was presented with a commemorative plaque from the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce, along with a $300 teacher grant from the Conejo Schools Foundation, and received congratulatory wishes from CVUSD’s leadership team and members of the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce’s Education Committee.

Congratulations Ms. Mergian on your well-deserved recognition for the positive impact you make each and every day!
