Congratulations to Dr. Shane Craven, Principal of CVUSD’s Aspen Elementary School on being selected as a 40 Under Forty Honoree by the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce. Now in its 11th year, this annual recognition celebrates 40 emerging local leaders representing diverse sectors who are making a lasting impact across the Conejo Valley and beyond.
Dr. Craven has dedicated more than 17 years to advancing education through meaningful, inclusive, and student-centered learning experiences. His leadership helps foster an environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Through his commitment to excellence in education, Dr. Craven is helping shape the next generation of leaders in the Conejo Valley.
Dr. Craven’s accomplishments, along with all of this year’s 2026 40 Under Forty Honorees will be celebrated at a ticketed event hosted by the Chamber of Commerce on Friday, July 24, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM at the Hyatt Regency Westlake. Honorees recognized come from the fields of healthcare, public safety, nonprofit leadership, hospitality, finance and more.

National Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated nationwide from September 15th to October 15th to honor the contributions that Hispanic, Latino, and Latinx Americans have made to our nation and society. The theme for this year’s National Hispanic Heritage Month is: “Collective Heritage: Honoring the Past, Inspiring the Future.”

Thirteen students from Newbury Park High School and Westlake High School were among the more than 16,000 Semifinalists in the 72nd annual National Merit Scholarship Program, representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors. This program honors individual students who show exceptional academic ability.
