CVUSD Celebrates Lunar New Year

February 17, 2026, will usher in the Lunar New Year for 2026 - the Year of the Horse. CVUSD is committed to honoring and valuing the traditions and cultural significance of the Lunar New Year and the contributions and accomplishments of the Asian and Pacific Islander communities. Staff, students and community members are encouraged to learn about the history of Lunar New Year and celebrate with purposeful activities.

Westlake High Earns 2nd Place in 2026 Ventura County Academic Decathlon

Congratulations to our Westlake High School Warriors on earning 2nd place in the 2026 Ventura County Academic Decathlon! The annual event, themed “The Roaring Twenties,” took place last month, with winners announced on February 9th. Nine high schools from across Ventura County participated with students from both Westlake High and Thousand Oaks High earning individual awards and recognitions.

Sustaining Student Mental Health & Wellness

A new Initiative from the State of California, the California Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (CYBHI), has made it possible for our CVUSD schools to directly be reimbursed by private health insurance plans for the mental health and wellness services provided to students on campus by our mental health clinicians and counselors. Learn how to participate in CYBHI, at no cost to you, and provide critical financial support for these on-campus services.

A “Bite of Reality:” CVUSD High School Students Participate In Financial Literacy Program with Community Partner Logix

Approximately 175 CVUSD high school students completed a financial literacy program Bite of Reality® at a special event hosted by Logix Federal Credit Union. Bite of Reality is an exercise that simulates a real-life experience, by way of an app, complete with financial decisions, bills, and even credit scores.

Two Westlake High Scholars Selected for Competitive Amgen Biotechnology Internship

Congratulations to Westlake High School 10th grade students Smrithi and Amelia for being selected for the highly competitive BOLT! (Biotechnology Opportunities for Leadership and Talent) Internship program through the AMGEN Biotech Experience. This is a prestigious student-focused program for high schoolers and undergraduates designed to explore the diverse and dynamic fields within biotechnology.

CVUSD Celebrates National Black History Month

This February CVUSD celebrates National Black History Month, a time to honor and commemorate the roles African Americans have played in our country's history. The first Black History Week was celebrated in 1926. To mark the 100-year legacy of honoring Black history, culture, and achievements the theme for the 2026 celebration is, “A Century of Black History Commemorations.”

Join Us for the February Parent/Guardian Workshop Event: "Breaking the Silence: Mental Health in Latino Families"

Join us on Monday, February 2nd at 6pm for a free event for CVUSD parents/guardians, which will focus on understanding the stigma surrounding mental health within Latino families and explore ways to better support our students.
