CVUSD Students Receive Youth Citizenship Awards

Congratulations to the 22 CVUSD students who received a Youth Citizenship Award from the Thousand Oaks Rotary. These annual recognitions are bestowed to a 5th grade student from each CVUSD elementary school and an 8th grade student from each CVUSD middle school. Students are chosen for the award for  successfully demonstrating good citizenship by helping others, for making a contribution to the school and community, and for being a role model to others. Students are also selected for exhibiting outstanding leadership skills.

Westlake High School Students Showcase Computer Programming Skills

Each year, Lockheed Martin, a global security and aerospace company, hosts Code Quest, an annual computer programming competition where teams of two to three high school students work together to solve problems by using programming to complete the “quest”. This spring Westlake High School had three teams of students compete at the California Code Quest, which included more than 70 teams from all over the state.

Three CVUSD Educators Honored for Innovation in the Classroom

Sixteen teachers from throughout Ventura County were recently honored with $16,000 in grants for developing innovative lessons for their students, including three CVUSD educators: Christa Lamb and Kari White of Colina Middle School and Melissa Wood-Glusac of Thousand Oaks High School. The grants are funded by local businesses and organizations that wish to promote unique and creative teaching practices.
