Important New COVID-19 Guidance Updates

These last few years have been full of challenges and we know that with each release of new health guidance it forces all of us to make adjustments as we take steps, together, towards a new normal. A key part of CVUSD’s COVID-19 Safety Plan is our commitment to and adherence of the COVID-19 requirements and guidance from county and state health officials. Wednesday, March 9th the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) provided updated guidance documents that will go into effect Saturday, March 12, 2022 for K-12 schools.

CVUSD Awarded Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting

The Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) has awarded Conejo Valley Unified School District the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting (COE). ASBO International’s COE recognizes districts that have met the program’s high standards for financial reporting and transparency. The CVUSD earned the Certificate of Excellence for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) for the fiscal year ended 2021. This marks the second year in a row that CVUSD has received this recognition.

Care, compassion and connection building are at the core of Kathleen Fischer as an educator and as an invaluable member of the Sequoia Middle School community. Ms. Fischer is a dedicated English teacher and the English Department Chair for Sequoia Middle School, where she began her CVUSD career as an educator a decade ago.

Newbury Park High Student Selected to Attend Prestigious Journalism Conference

Abby M., a 10th grade student at Newbury Park High School, has been selected to represent Newbury Park, CA as a National Youth Correspondent to the 2022 Washington Journalism and Media Conference at George Mason University. Abby joins a select group of students from all over the country for an intensive study of journalism and media. She was chosen based on academic accomplishments and a demonstrated interest and excellence in journalism and media studies.

High School Families: Learn More About the AVID Program at an Upcoming Information Meeting

Families of high school students are invited to learn more about the AVID program for the 2022-2023 school year. This informational meeting about the AVID program at our CVUSD comprehensive high schools is scheduled for Thursday, March 10th via zoom. There will be an English language session and a Spanish language session. AVID is a student-centered program designed to close the opportunity gap by preparing all students for college, career, and life.
