Conejo Valley Unified School District Hosts Board of Education Swearing-In Ceremony
Dr. Betsy Connolly and Sandee Everett Assume Board of Education Positions
On Tuesday, December 6 Dr. Betsy Connolly and Mrs. Sandee Everett took part in a special Swearing-In Ceremony as they assumed their elected positions to the Board of Education for the Conejo Valley Unified School District.
In the brief ceremony, Superintendent Dr. Ann Bonitatibus administered the oath of office to Dr. Connolly and Mrs. Everett. She expressed congratulations to each trustee and affirmed how they will positively contribute to a dedicated and dynamic Board of Education that serves nearly 19,000 students in one of the top public school districts in California and the nation.
Dr. Betsy Connolly was first elected to the Conejo Valley Unified School District Board of Education in November 2008.
“I am looking forward to continuing to provide leadership that increases opportunities for student success and maintains the District as a great place to teach, work and learn,” Dr. Connolly said about what she is most excited about as she begins her third term as an elected Board Member for CVUSD.
This is the first elected term of Mrs. Sandee Everett to the Conejo Valley Unified School District Board of Education.
“As the only board member with children in the schools, I look forward to bringing that perspective to our board discussions and decisions,” Mrs. Everett said. “I am also really looking forward to meeting many more of our amazing teachers, staff and students.”
Immediately following the oath to office, there was a brief reception catered by the District's Child Nutrition Department prior to the Board convening into its scheduled 5 p.m. closed session meeting.
As Dr. Betsy Connolly and Mrs. Sandee Everett assume their elected positions, it also marks the end of Mrs. Peggy Buckles tenure as a dedicated member of the Board of Education for the Conejo Valley Unified School District.
“I was honored to have served for 8 years and wish nothing but the best for our students, teachers classified employees and administrators in the future,” Mrs. Buckles said. “The district went into a recession immediately after Betsy and I took office and I am proud that we were able to keep the cuts as far away from the classrooms as possible. I hope the new board does not have to deal with that again and if they do, that they will continue to make decisions that are in the best interest of all of our students.”
Regular Board of Education Meetings for the Conejo Valley Unified School District are held on the first and third Tuesday of each month in the CVUSD Board Room.
