Please Join us in Welcoming: Dr. Shanna Egans, CVUSD’s New Assistant Superintendent of Student Services

On Tuesday, June 14th, the Board of Education for the Conejo Valley Unified School District announced Dr. Shanna Egans as the District’s new Assistant Superintendent, Student Services.

Dr. Egans most recently served as the Director, Student Support Services for the Anaheim Union High School District. Through this role she focused on removing the barriers for students to access instruction, including students with disabilities, McKenney-Vento, Foster Youth, English Language Learners, and low socio-economic families. To keep students connected to learning, she implemented Multi-tiered Systems of Support, intervention supports, and oversaw school culture and climate. She has experience in planning, developing, organizing, managing, directing, and implementing District programs and initiatives. She also possesses the insight to ensure ongoing personal and staff development, along with coordinating site governance and promoting a safe, respectful and accessible learning environment that supports all students’ personalized learning goals.

“Dr. Egans is a student-centered leader,” said Dr. Mark McLaughlin, Superintendent of Conejo Valley Unified School District. “We are excited to welcome her to the CVUSD, where she will be an integral part of our on-going commitment to supporting the social, emotional and physical well-being of all of our students through targeted actions that result in positive student outcomes.”

Dr. Egans has served in a variety of diverse roles throughout her career in education, including: Program Administrator, Attendance, High School Administrator, Intervention Coordinator and High School Teacher. She is also an Adjunct Professor for the University of Redlands’ School of Education.

“I am excited to be embarking on a new professional journey tied to my personal purpose of building systems of support for all children regardless of their needs and diverse backgrounds,” said Dr. Egans. “Today's youth and families are dealing with multiple complex social issues and therefore Districts are diligently working towards meeting the needs of the whole child.  I look forward to working side by side with my new colleagues in the Conejo Valley Unified School District family.  Thank you for this amazing opportunity.”

The Assistant Superintendent, Student Services provides direct supervision to the following District services: BreakThrough Program, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Multilingual Learners and Equity, Special Education, and Student Support Services.

Dr. Egans earned a Doctorate Degree, Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership, from the University of La Verne, a Masters Degree, Masters of Arts in Educational Administration, from the University of Redlands and a Bachelors Degree, Bachelor of Science in Biological Science with a Minor in Gerontology, from California State University, Fullerton. She also has Professional Administrative Services (Tier 2), Preliminary Administrative Services (Tier 1) and Single Subject Teaching Credentials.
