TK News Flash: Transitional Kindergarten is Now Available for More Students in Fall 2022!
Have you heard about the big news in Transitional Kindergarten (TK)?
Families will now be able to participate in expanded TK opportunities in the CVUSD for their students.
Starting next school year (2022-2023), students with birthdays from September 2, 2017 through FEBRUARY 2, 2018 will be eligible to enroll in CVUSD TK. Students born between July 1, 2017 and September 1, 2017 are eligible for either TK or Kindergarten. Students must be five years of age by 9/1/22 to enroll in Kindergarten.
Not only that, the TK age span will continue to expand so that by the 2025-2026 school year, all four year olds will be eligible to attend TK in CVUSD.
TK is the first year of a two-year Kindergarten program. In TK, teachers promote meaningful connections across subject matter and involve students in integrated educational experiences. Social-emotional development is a focal point of a TK year, including of students learn to develop and maintain positive relationships, identify emotions, focus attention, learn to work both independently and cooperatively, learn school routines/expectations, resolve social conflict and more.
TK helps prepare students for educational success in Kindergarten and beyond!
TK hours are the same as Kindergarten.
Enrollment Opportunities Ahead:
Enrollment for new students begins Tuesday, January 18, 2022 for the 2022-2023 school year. TK, Kindergarten and families with new CVUSD students (grades TK-12) may begin the enrollment process online on or after January 18, 2022 at: https://conejo.vcoe.org/preenrollment/
What if I want my student to attend TK at a school other than my assigned neighborhood school?
Families who would like to apply for their student to attend TK at a school site other than their assigned neighborhood school may do so by submitting a School Choice Application online HERE. Priority deadline to submit a School Choice Application is January 31, 2022 at 5pm.
Once a student is accepted for school choice at a site TK-5, they will remain at that school site, just as they do for kindergarten. If they want to return to their neighborhood site for Kindergarten after TK, they would need to apply for school choice to return.
