Terri Culpepper Named New Principal of Westlake Elementary School

On Tuesday, August 3rd the Conejo Valley Unified School District Board of Education announced that Terri Culpepper is the new Principal of Westlake Elementary School.

Mrs. Culpepper has been an educator with the District for more than two decades. Most recently, Mrs. Culpepper has served as the CVUSD Instructional Technology Teacher Lead.  In this role she guided teachers in enhancing their teaching using technology and technology tools.  During Remote Learning and our return to campuses last year, she was instrumental to the planning and implementation of remote learning, ClassLink, Canvas, and the many virtual experiences our students and teachers needed.  If you asked any CVUSD teacher who was vital to the implementation of online teaching and learning last year, many would say Mrs. Culpepper. Mrs. Culpepper is a proven leader who steps up for her community in times of transition.

“We are very excited to welcome Mrs. Culpepper to her new leadership role at Westlake Elementary School,” said Dr. Mark Mclaughlin, Superintendent of Conejo Valley Unified School District. “Mrs. Culpepper possesses a unique breadth of talents and expertise that makes her a great match to lead the Wizards school community forward.”

Prior to her district position, Mrs. Culpepper was a teacher at Aspen Elementary for 16 years where she led their technology team and served as lead teacher for staff and students.  She coordinated and led after school intervention programs and professional development for teachers.   Mrs. Culpepper also won the honor of Teacher of the Month twice for CVUSD. In her 33 years as a teacher she has taught all elementary school grades and has been a leader among her peers.  Most recently Mrs. Culpepper served as one of the principals for the 2021 summer learning program where she supervised staff and students at Acacia Elementary.

Mrs. Culpepper is excited to be joining the Westlake Elementary community.  She knows that Westlake Elementary stakeholders care deeply about their families, staff, and students and will continue her commitment to elementary students in this new role.

Mrs. Culpepper earned a Masters in Educational Leadership from Grand Canyon University, and a Bachelor of Arts: Child Development degree and teaching credential from California State University, Northridge.

Congratulations, Mrs. Culpepper - Go Wizards
