Grant Funded Motorized Meal Kiosk Carts Are Newest Addition to CVUSD’s FREE Meal Distributions
Receiving free meals just got even easier for students at CVUSD’s middle schools and comprehensive high school sites with the addition of new meal kiosk carts. The District’s Child Nutrition team recently received a USDA Breakfast Expansion Grant through the California Department of Education to fund the kiosks which now provide another point of service, reduce line congestion and most importantly help distribute FREE meals to our students.
The approved grant provided $15,000 for each CVUSD middle school site and comprehensive high school site to purchase a motorized meal cart kiosk. These one-of-a-kind, branded carts are now on CVUSD secondary school site campuses for students to easily receive FREE meals as part of the ongoing free meal distribution program. They are also utilized at the secondary school sites to serve free meals to children ages 2-18 during community meal distribution times on school days. Details about the District’s free meal distribution to the community is available here.
Thank you to CDE for funding the unique needs of our school sites and helping to ensure our students and the children in the Conejo community receive the nutritious meals they need to be successful inside and outside of the classroom.
