In honor of National Inclusive Schools Week (December 7-11), Conejo Valley Unified School District would like to recognize five Inclusion Heroes at the December 15, 2020 Board of Education meeting. An Inclusion Hero is an individual who has a passion for ensuring all students have access and opportunity - and who turns this passion into action by modeling inclusivity in their day to day work. Nominate a teacher, staff member or administrator in recognition of their dedication to creating a community of inclusivity, kindness, and respect, which enhances learning for ALL students by completing the online nomination form by Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at 5pm.
Please join CVUSD's BreakThrough Student Assistance Program and the Conejo Schools Foundation for "Supporting Your LGBTQ+ Child" on Wednesday, December 2nd from 5:30-6:30 PM presented by Todd Walker, LCSW. This FREE event will provide parents/guardians with best practices, resources and tools to support the unique mental health needs of their LGBTQ+ children.
This educator is a source of awe under normal circumstances. While amid a global pandemic, her work ethic and tenacity to bridge the gap and provide foundational learning resources to all has been truly inspirational. She is a person of integrity, a timeless principle that reflects her gracious heart. We and the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce are honored to recognize Anne Alvarez of Newbury Park High School as our October Teacher of the Month.
On Friday, November 13th, Weathersfield Elementary was presented with its 2020 National Blue Ribbon School Award in a virtual ceremony. The 2020 National Blue Ribbon Schools Awards Ceremony is a formal recognition ceremony to honor 367 public and private schools in the 2020 cohort of National Blue Ribbon Schools. Each school will receive a plaque and a National Blue Ribbon School flag as symbols of their recognition.
The CVUSD Elementary Education Department and the Parent Outreach Program are pleased to invite Spanish speaking parents/guardians to the 7th Annual Conference Series: Reading Gives You Wings on Thursday, November 19th at 6pm. This year's conference is an online event and will focus on family resilience with a focus on literature: turning adversities into opportunities to grow as a family.
