GOOD NEWS! The BRAND NEW Westlake High School Science Center will host its GRAND OPENING this Monday, April 27th at lunch in Rm. 43N! The center is free and open to students of all grade levels and science subjects for tutoring Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, no appointment needed but you may schedule an appointment with a tutor, click here!

Career Technical Education Pathway

The CTE Pathway Program consists of 3 sequenced career themed courses that prepare students for employment and post-secondary training and education.
Pathway students complete the first course in 10th grade, the second course in 11th grade, and the third course in 12th grade.
Our CTE Pathways consist of Biotechnology & Research,Computer Science & Design and Health Services

Course Sequences:
Biotechnology: Chemistry (10th), Biotechnology Research & Design (11th), Scientific Research (12th)
Computer Science & Design: Algebra 2 (10th), Web Page Design (11th), Web Programming (12th)
Health Services: Chemistry (10th), Physiology (11th), Health Science & Medical Technology (12th)

Pertussis (Whooping Cough)

A new school immunization law requires all students entering 7th through 12th grades in the 2011-2012 school year in California to be immunized with a pertussis (whooping cough) vaccine booster called Tdap. Click here for details.

WHS Students will be inspired learners who demonstrate the ability to be passionate, independent, and self directed.

  •   Each student may demonstrate this by:

    •   Exhibiting self-motivation, self-discipline and self-evaluation.
    •   Developing and applying effective personal learning strategies and work habits. 

WHS students will be effective communicators who are able to demonstrate proficiency in utilizing digital tools and media in order to articulate thoughts and ideas clearly.

  • Each student may demonstrate this by:
    • Displaying communicative competence using both verbal and nonverbal skills.
    • Using technology, including social media, as a means of communicating accurately with others.
    • Exchanging information successfully when working in collaborative grouping and being held accountable for independent articulation.

WHS students will be informed and contributing members of the global community.

Safe Homes Program

Project Conejo Safe Homes is a collaborative effort on behalf of Newbury Park High School, Thousand Oaks High School and Westlake High School for the youth of the Conejo Valley.  The project is asking parents to sign a pledge that they will not serve alcohol at youth gatherings in their homes, and will always be physically present at such gatherings. The goal of the program is to support parents in making informed decisions about the supervision of their teenage children. California High School Proficiency Examination (CHSPE)

The GetAhead Program (GAP), sponsored by The Conejo Schools Foundation, is offering summer courses for those wishing to get ahead in their high school education. You may view the flyer for more information.


Microsoft Office Specialist Certification Exam

Westlake High School is an authorized Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) exam testing center. We offer exam testing for Office 2013 (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook). Please contact Dr. Looker or Dave Tyler for further information.
