Spring Parent Letter - Monday, April 21, 2014

Dear Parents,                                                                      April 4, 2014

Wow, March has been another busy and productive month and we are already into April!  We hope you enjoyed watching our precious first graders perform in our America Beautiful Show!  We also thank you families for volunteering in the Walnut Walk-a-Thon fundraiser!  Your participation was greatly appreciated!  I was so impressed with the number of laps our first graders completed and their determined spirits to continue running for the entire 30 minutes…WOW!

I also want to thank you for helping your child with their country report!  We have been having so much fun learning about your child’s unique family cultural heritage and background!  We are highlighting each country shared on our world map and learning about what continents are represented!  We have also been making deep connections about our similarities, but we have been discovering that it is our differences that make our lives so much richer and dimensionalJ!

Thank you all for your continued support in making reading a part of your child’s daily experience.  Fluency, accuracy and comprehension are paramount in making sure your child is successful next year.  I will continue to send your child’s “book bag” with reading material home with your child so that your child can continue to practice fluency and automaticity.  If you have your child’s book bag and borrowed books at home, please return the book bag and books as soon as possible so that your child can continue to receive the practice readers.

Just a few upcoming calendar dates to remember:  (More information and details to follow in the near future):

April 12-21 Spring Break:  No School on Monday, April 21.

April 25, Friday:  Super Spirit Day; Hawaiian Clothing

May 2, Friday:  Field Trip to Santa Barbara Zoo

May 21, Wednesday:  Open House

I want to wish you all a wonderful, enjoyable Spring Break!  Your children bring me great joy every day!  They are all so unique and add sparkle to this grand world of ours!

                                                            Kindly,   Mrs. Roth
