SUMMER READING

The English Department Honors/AP programs are rigorous here at Thousand Oaks High School. In order to reduce your workload in the fall, we are asking for the cooperation of our students in reading selected works over the summer break.

Reading over the summer is highly recommended for your academic success next year. The English teachers suggest reading over the summer because the rigor of the courses requires it, and many things will compete for your attention at the beginning of the school year. When you return in the fall, you will be given an assessment based on your reading during the first weeks of school. We also recommend that you obtain your own copies of the books so that you can make marginal notes (annotations) in them. You will need to have access to the books in order to complete the assessment.
