Welcome Redwood Orchestra

We welcome musicians of all ability levels, beginner through advanced. Our primary goal is to bring all of our skills together to make beautiful music and have fun along the way. In the process of learning to perform music together, each musician will improve individually as well.

The Redwood Strings Program is comprised of two orchestras: the Viking Strings and the Concert Orchestra.

Viking Strings is open to all Redwood students who play violin, viola, cello, or double bass.  While it is expected that students are already proficient on their instruments, this ensemble will focus on learning to play together as an orchestra!

Concert Orchestra is for students with more experience, both on their instruments and as members of large ensembles.  This group will have additional performance opportunities throughout the year.

Welcome to Strings!

If you have never played a string instrument before, or want to learn a new one, this is the place for you!  Your first task will be to pick an instrument.  Your choices in orchestra are:

  • violin
  • viola
  • cello
  • double bass

Viking Strings

Welcome to Orchestra!
Viking Strings is an ensemble for developing string players, those who have a year or more of experience on their instruments, but who are new to the orchestra environment.  This group focuses on learning to play together while developing musical independence and continuing to grow as string players.

Work on your D and G major scales, starting on open strings.  Practice your rhythm page.

Concert Orchestra

Time to Tune Up!

Concert Orchestra is an ensemble for experienced orchestra members, ready to tackle more independent and complex parts, as well as learn new notes, rhythms, and techniques.

Practice your rhythm sheet and your C, G, and D Major scales.
