Redwood Middle School Mission Statement

At Redwood Middle School, we are a diverse community of students, teachers, staff, and parents who work in partnership to maintain an academic, safe, and nurturing environment. We show respect for ourselves and others and take responsibility for our actions.

Our mission is to develop lifelong learners who communicate, collaborate, and think critically, creatively, and independently.

We challenge students to develop the skills to become outstanding scholars and citizens, and we celebrate their accomplishments.

Principal's Welcome

Viking Families and Community Members,

Welcome to Redwood Middle School, home of the Vikings. I am privileged to continue in my ninth consecutive year as a member of the remarkable Redwood Staff.

Maintaining high expectations, we at Redwood are committed to providing all students with access to relevant and rigorous academic curricula. Redwood offers outstanding academic and extracurricular opportunities. In addition to our strong, standards-based curriculum component, we are proud of our many programs to help students connect to school and to foster their interests.  Currently, more than one-third of our students are involved in our Performing Arts programs that include Chorus, Strings Orchestra, and four levels of Band. We offer three Leadership classes at Redwood that include more than 100 students, and a PTSA (Parent Teacher Student Association) student group that will be involved in school-wide activities and community service. For day-to-day connections, more than a dozen clubs that meet in various classrooms during lunch enable students to interact with peers with similar interests and to plan meaningful activities.

To ensure that each student at Redwood feels comfortable and safe before, during, and after school, we encourage parents to communicate with staff via phone or email at any time. Parents are also encouraged to stay active in PTSA and SSC (School Site Council). With the help and involvement of the entire Redwood community, we will continue with our longstanding tradition of academic excellence. Middle school students are at a critical time in their lives, a time in which character takes shape and begins to define the individual.  It is my hope to encourage all students to choose strong academic performance and superior citizenship.
