ENROLLMENT PROCEDURES FOR NEXT YEAR

The Conejo Valley Unified School District will begin accepting School Choice Forms for new students for the 2013-2014 school year beginning February 1, 2013.  All students must be registered at their neighborhood school then submit a School Choice form if you want to enroll at EARTHS.  EARTHS MAGNET SCHOOL IS NOT A NEIGHBORHOOD OR HOME SCHOOL.  If you are interested in choosing a school other than your own neighborhood school – such as EARTHS Magnet School – you would ask for a School Choice Form at the time of enrollment.  School Choice Forms are also available on the CVUSD website.

On the School Choice form you are able to select 3 schools you are interested in your child attending.  If EARTHS Magnet School is your school of choice, list it as your #1 choice at the top and also check it as an “option” on the form.  This form MUST be turned into the District Office on or before March 1 by the parent. 

A lottery for school choice requests will be held at the District Office and parents will be notified by letter if they are accepted to EARTHS or will be placed on a "wait list."  Letters are sent out from the district office by the end of April. If you are accepted by lottery for EARTHS, the letter will explain the registration process.

EARTHS does NOT take any registrations directly and the "wait list" is kept at the School Choice office.  All EARTHS registrations are overseen at the district office through the School Choice program only.  All information for School Choice, the lottery system, and "wait list" priority can only be answered by the School Choice program office and Debbie Gonzalez, School Choice technician at 497-9511 ext. 239.

PLEASE NOTE THAT EARTHS MAGNET SCHOOL PROVIDES NO TRANSPORTATION TO OUR CAMPUS.  ALL STUDENTS MUST BE DRIVEN OR WALKED TO SCHOOL BY PARENTS AND BE PICKED UP DAILY AT DISMISSAL.

DISTRICT CHILDCARE ON CAMPUS
Every school provides before and after school childcare on campus.  When you register your child at their home school and need childcare – please make sure to fill out the childcare form and then take it to the district office.  If you are then selected for EARTHS you will need to contact the Childcare Office to ensure you are transferred to EARTHS childcare.  You will not need to fill out another form.  A deposit is required with the application. 

The Environmental Academy for Research Technology of EARTH Sciences (EARThS) is dedicated to helping students acquire the tools of inquiry and expression by delving deeply into subjects with a cross-curricular approach, using earth sciences and technology as a unifying theme for exploration. 

 

 
Information for 5th Graders

Earths 5th graders will be assigned to their neighborhood middle school for 6th grade based on their address of residence. If you want to attend to the Discover Academy or any other middle school than their neighborhood middle school, then they need to:

·        •  CVUSD residents:  Submit a 2013/2014 School Choice Application by 5:00 p.m. on March 1st to Instructional Services (Fax: 805-379-5756). 

·        •  Residents of other school districts:  Submit an Interdistrict Attendance Permit to their school district of residence, plus submit a copy of the Permit to CVUSD Pupil Services (Fax: 805-373-6981) by 5:00 p.m. on March 1st.
