FREE MEALS ARE NOW AVAILABLE FOR ALL CHILDREN AGES 2 – 18 YEARS BEGINNING AUGUST 31 THROUGH DECEMBER 31!

Beginning today, August 31, 2020, the CVUSD Child Nutrition Department will furnish meals at all District schools (except Westlake High School and Conejo Valley High School), as well as at Las Casitas, at no charge during the hours listed below.  It will not be necessary for students to provide student identification numbers during this time frame.  All meals served will be free of charge for all children ages 2 – 18 years of age.  Lunch and breakfast (for the next day) will be provided for each child.

Elementary Schools:   11:30 am to 12:30 pm

Middle Schools:          11:30 am to 12:30 pm

High Schools:              10:45 am to 11:45 am

Las Casitas:                 11:30 am to 12:30 pm

A Message from our Principal

Welcome to Banyan Elementary School. . . home of the Bobcats. Banyan is a proud neighborhood school with a tradition of academic excellence, parent involvement, and joyful learning.  We strive to meet the individual needs of our students and create an environment where every student feels like they belong. 

This website is a living document and is changing constantly. Please visit often to get a picture of what we are doing to making students love to learn and be successful in their learning goals at Banyan.  However, a website can never tell the full picture of the magic that happens daily in our classrooms. NEW STUDENT Registration Info (Updated for School Closure)

2020-2021 Enrollment for New to CVUSD Students

  • In consideration of social-distancing guidelines packets will be sent and received electronically with no in-person exchanges
  • Please begin enrollment by accessing our online pre-enrollment process. Click the "Enroll" button on our banner, or click here.
  • Please print and submit the pre-enrollment form and email a copy of the signed pre-enrollment form to Banyan Office Manager Chris Okun at cokun@conejousd.org. This step in necessary to complete pre-enrollment.
  • Upon receipt of a signed pre-enrollment form, an electronic enrollment packet will be sent to parents for completion.  Documents will need to be scanned and emailed back to cokun@conejousd.org in order for enrollment to be complete.

Section 5 of Article IX of the State of California Constitution guarantees students a “free public education.” The State Supreme Court concluded in the 1984 case of Hartzell v. Connell (35 Cal.3d.899 (1984)), “that all educational activities carried on by public school districts, extra-curricular as well as curricular, must be without cost to the students who participate in such activities.” This same ruling found that “mandatory fees for participating in such extra-curricular activities as drama, music, and athletic competition were illegal under the State Constitution.” Furthermore, they also rejected the argument that “fees could be charged so long as the district waived fees for students who were financially unable to pay.”
