Lisa Miller Announced as Director of Special Education by CVUSD Board

Miller Poised to Lead CVUSD’s Special Education Department

On Tuesday, July 25th, the Conejo Valley Unified School District (CVUSD) Board of Education announced that the new Director of Special Education will be Lisa Miller. She has been serving as a coordinator within the department for the past year. Ms. Miller has been committed to helping the district meet the educational needs of all eligible district students with disabilities, which comprises approximately 9% of all CVUSD students.

Ms. Miller holds a bachelor’s degree in Human Development from UC Davis, as well as two master’s degrees: A Master of Arts in Counseling from CSU Sacramento, and a Master of Science in Education from UC Berkeley. She is also a California State Licensed Educations Psychologist, and is currently attending UCLA for her Doctorate in Education. Prior to working for CVUSD, Ms. Miller was the Director of Special Education for the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD). She began her career in education as a School Psychologist for the Lafayette School District in 2001.

Ms. Miller was recognized for the 2015-2016 school year by the Association of California School Administrators as Region 5’s Administrator of the Year, Special Education, and was one of 6 SFUSD central office administrators to participate in Harvard’s Public Education Leadership Project (PELP). “Lisa’s education, experience, and qualifications made her an excellent choice for leading the Special Education department,” said Interim Superintendent, Dr. Mark McLaughlin. “We are extremely pleased to be promoting from within, and know that finding great talent from within the department will also aid in creating a smooth transition.”
