Principal for a Half Day Program Comes to CVUSD

Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce and Conejo Valley Unified School District host principal for a half day program

Ever wonder what a day in the life of your local school principal would be like? On Wednesday, April 5th – that’s exactly what 42 community members had the opportunity to experience thanks to the Principal for a Half Day Program hosted by the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce and Conejo Valley Unified School District.

This annual event gives Chamber of Commerce members and members of the local community the opportunity to shadow the principal of a local elementary, middle or high school to experience firsthand the profession of a principal at a local school.  Participants in this cost free event also had the opportunity to meet teachers, observe classrooms and get a tour of a school site.

Participants in this year’s program include employees from the City of Thousand Oaks, State Senator Henry Stern’s Office, Sports Academy and local real estate agencies.

The program included a lunch where brief remarks were heard from the Conejo Valley Unified School District Board of Trustees and Superintendent Dr. Ann Bonitatibus.  The program concluded with participants sharing a bit about their personal experiences from their trips on campus.

“We are proud to host this event alongside the Conejo Valley Unified School District,” said Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce President/CEO Jill Lederer.  “The Conejo Valley is home to an excellent school district and we enjoy taking the opportunity once a year to show it off to the business community.”

Conejo Valley Unified School District Superintendent Dr. Ann Bonitatibus had the following remarks:  “Conejo Valley Unified School District is home to exceptionally dedicated and passionate principals and teachers.  These talented educators are the face of our district and I feel it’s important that we honor their hard work and invite the public to see firsthand how they make our school district excellent.”

The Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce is one of the largest chambers in the state of California with approximately 1,000 business members, serving the cities of Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village and Agoura Hills.  For more information on the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce visit ConejoChamber.org.
