Facilities Use Program Update: Board starts new era in equity, access, and community service for groups to use District facilities

On September 21, 2021, the Board of Education for the Conejo Valley Unified School District held a Special Board Meeting on the topic of the District’s Facilities Use Program.  In a more than four-hour long discussion, the Board of Education adopted a new facility use fee schedule and updated the facility use rules and regulations, with the important overall goal of creating equity and accessibility amongst all facility user groups.  Additionally, pending no major changes in COVID related guidelines, it was decided that the District will open indoor facilities for outside user groups to rent, beginning November 1, 2021.

The Board of Education of the Conejo Valley Unified School District supports the Red Ribbon Campaign and the proclamation of October 23-31, 2021, as Red Ribbon Week in the CVUSD! This week, districtwide, students and staff are encouraged to participate in campaign specific activities, making a visible statement that we, as a community, are strongly committed to live a healthy life.

Transitional Kindergarten (TK) Updates: New Enrollment Process & Expanded Student Age Eligibility

We are excited to share that at yesterday's October 19th regularly scheduled Board of Education Meeting, new changes to our Transitional Kindergarten (TK) enrollment process were approved based on California Assembly Bill 130, which now make it easier than ever for families to enroll their students in TK.  All TK enrollments will now occur at students’ neighborhood school sites. Additionally, there is a new, expanded birth date eligibility range that allows more students to qualify for TK!

We are proud to share that Sammi Stewart, Adapted Physical Education Specialist for Newbury Park High School and Westlake High School, has been selected to receive the California Adapted Physical Education Teacher of the Year award! This recognition comes from the State Council on Adapted Physical Education, a section of the California Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (CAHPERD). Ms. Stewart’s high-octane energy and dedication to making a difference in the lives of the students she serves is unmatched.
