In a surprise celebration on Tuesday, May 15th Shawna Randolph of Walnut Elementary School received the June Teacher of the Month recognition award! Ms. Randolph is a 5th grade teacher at Walnut Elementary, where she has been an instructor for the last six years and counting.
Annie Sun, a senior at Newbury Park High School, and student of teacher Jennifer Lee, has won the 2018 Congressional Art Competition for California’s 26th Congressional District. Sun will be flown to Washington, D.C. where her artwork will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol complex for one year.

Today, Congresswoman Julia Brownley visited our Neighborhood for Learning (NfL) Preschool Program at EARTHS Magnet as part of the Take 5 and Read to Kids campaign. Take 5 and Read to Kids is a partnership between the Ventura County Star and First 5 Ventura County to raise awareness about the importance of early childhood literacy.
Congratulations to Dr. Christine Powell of Thousand Oaks High School who has received a Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching grant to Singapore from the U.S. Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.
