On Tuesday, June 27^th, the Conejo Valley Unified School District (CVUSD) Board of Education announced that Amy K. Simmons-Folkes was selected as the new principal of Madroña Elementary, beginning with the 2017-2018 school year. Mrs. Folkes has served as the Assistant Principal at Simi Valley High School since 2013, and was a teacher for 13 years prior to pursuing a career in educational administration.

A Groundbreaking Event was held on Tuesday, June 20^th at 1400 E. Janss Road outside the South building-- the new location for Conejo Valley High School (CVHS).  

Thousand Oaks, Calif., June 20, 2017 – The Board of Education (Board) of the Conejo Valley Unified School District (CVUSD) announced today during its regularly scheduled meeting that Dr. Mark W. McLaughlin was the applicant selected to fill the Interim Superintendent position.  His start date is June 22, 2017 and will continue through the 2017 – 2018 school year.

On Tuesday, June 6^th, the Conejo Valley Unified School District (CVUSD) Board of Education announced Hallie Chambers as the new principal of Sequoia Middle School (SMS) in Newbury Park, beginning with the 2017-2018 school year. This will be Ms. Chambers third leadership position with the SMS administration, having previously served as the dean of students for two years in 2010 and 2011, and as an assistant principal from 2012 until 2014. 

The Ventura County Office of Education announced today that Conejo Valley Unified School District (CVUSD) teacher, Leah Oviedo, was chosen as the 2017 Ventura County Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Oviedo is a teacher at Walnut Elementary School in Newbury Park, and was surprised with the honor in her classroom by family, as well as various members of Ventura County Office of Education, Conejo Valley Unified School District, and Unified Association of Conejo Teachers.

The Teacher of the Year program is awarded by the Ventura County Office of Education (VCOE), which represents 20 school districts and 210 schools, with a total student enrollment of approximately 142,000.  The program’s goal is to recognize and honor exemplary and highly qualified teacher in Ventura County, and emphasize educational innovation, student learning, and the rewards of teaching.
