CVUSD Board Announces Amy K. Simmons-Folkes as Principal of Madroña Elementary

Mustangs Prepare for New Leadership

On Tuesday, June 27th, the Conejo Valley Unified School District (CVUSD) Board of Education announced that Amy K. Simmons-Folkes was selected as the new principal of Madroña Elementary, beginning with the 2017-2018 school year. Mrs. Folkes has served as the Assistant Principal at Simi Valley High School since 2013, and was an elementary teacher for 13 years prior to pursuing a career in educational administration.

“We are very pleased Amy will be joining CVUSD. Her leadership qualities, and her hands-on experience as a liaison between students, parents, educators and staff made her a great choice for Madroña,” said Interim Superintendent, Dr. Mark McLaughlin.

Mrs. Folkes holds two master's degrees, one is a Master's of Science in Special Education. She also plans to pursue her doctorate in education with an emphasis on organization and leadership.

Mrs. Folkes succeeds Madroña Elementary’s current principal, Hallie Chambers, who will be serving as the principal at Sequoia Middle School for the upcoming school year, as previously announced in early June.
