Gina Mandell receives special recognition from Chamber of Commerce, District

The Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce is teaming up with Conejo Valley Unified School District to shine a light on educators throughout the 2016-2017 school year with its Teacher of the Month recognition program.

On Tuesday, November 8, Gina Mandell former Los Cerritos Middle School 7th/8th grade English teacher, ELD 3 Teacher and current Support Provider/Mentor Teacher for CVUSD’s New Teacher Induction Program was named CVUSD’s November Teacher of the Month.

Gina began a new role as a Support Provider/Mentor Teacher for CVUSD’s New Teacher Induction Program at the start of the 2016-2017 school year. She has been a teacher in the District for the last 12 years and most recently taught at Los Cerritos Middle School for the last six years. She was selected as Teacher of the Month because of her dedication to engaging and supporting all students in learning by demonstrating the following key criteria:

1. Open doors by recognizing diverse needs of learners

2. Exhibit high professional standards

3. Engages with families and the community

During her tenure at Los Cerritos Middle School, Gina worked to elevate every student to another level by incorporating well-designed lesson plans that engage students at all ability and language levels. She collaborated with colleagues to help ensure all staff were provided with the resources, techniques, strategies and research to help support all students on campus.

Gina also provided training for parents in Q/Parent Connect and sent regular updates and communication to parents to keep them informed about their student’s academic progress and success. She also utilized all available data to help drive and improve instruction – including the creation of benchmark assessments that are given at all grade levels at Los Cerritos.

To celebrate Gina’s November Teacher of the Month recognition, members of the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce congratulated her with gifts from their local businesses. Additionally, members from the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce and CVUSD Director of Secondary Education, Jim Garza presented Gina with a commemorative plaque recognizing her achievement.

Thank you Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce members and congratulations Gina!
